Baltic Power is the first offshore wind farm to be constructed in Polish waters, it is located in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Baltic Sea, approximately 23 km from the coastline. The wind farm comprises 76 wind turbines with a total production capacity of nearly 1.2 GW. The turbines are connected to two offshore substations, located in the East and West of the site respectively.

CS WIND Offshore, former Bladt Industries, is fabricator of all OSS structures and has awarded Scaldis with the transport & installation scope of all OSS structures (except the monopiles).

Despite the timing (autumn season), the Baltic once more proved to be a good match with HLV Gulliver in terms of workability, in particular for the very challenging alignment of 2 flanges during TP installation. Overall the offshore campaign for installation of the 2 substations was completed in only 10 days.

Scaldis Scope:

The T&I scope comprised following tasks:

  • Transport of OSS structures
  • Provision of 2 barges and respective lead tugs for the transport from fabricator yard (Aalborg) to Baltic Power construction site
  • Installation of OSS structures, for each OSS location:
    • Monopile cleaning
    • J-tube installation (lower & upper section), including Piranha clamp connection (earthing)
    • TP installation, including bolting of MP-TP flange connection (tensioning of 144pc M80 bolts)
    • Topside installation

All offshore operations were executed on DP
